Roger Bassam has lived in North Vancouver since 1983 and has been active in local politics and as a community volunteer since 1995. Roger is currently a member of the North Vancouver District Council – having been elected in 2008 and re-elected in 2011& 2014.  In addition to his Council role Roger is a member of the Metro Zero Waste Committee, Chairs the Advisory Oversight Committee, serves on the Finance & Audit Committee and was the Council Rep on the M.O.T.I. 2nd Narrows Interchange Committee.  Roger also served 3 years as a member of the Board of the North Vancouver Chamber of Commerce and was the District’s alternate on the Metro Vancouver Labour Relations Board.

Roger is a member of the Parkgate Community Services Society, the Lynn Valley Community Association and Edgemont and Upper Capilano Community Association.

A graduate of Carson Graham High School, Roger has a BA in Political Science from SFU, a Certificate of Technology from BCIT and has completed his MBA courses at the University of Leicester. Roger has worked in the Information Technology sector for the past seventeen years and is currently the Director of Business Development for a Vancouver based technology company. He and his wife Adrienne have two children, Samantha and Jacob. The family currently lives in the Lynn Valley area.

A lifelong participant in sports Roger still plays soccer in Millar’s North Shore Soccer League, which he has been the Co-President of since 1996, and helps coach for his children’s sports teams. His love of sports made his ten years of service on the North Vancouver Sports Advisory Council a very rewarding experience. Roger Chaired the Field User’s Capital Fund during this time as well as serving two years on the District Parks and Natural Environment Advisory Committee. The Bassam family spends a lot of time outdoors and it’s a good bet you will find them on a local soccer field or out walking with Lucky at Bridgeman Park or Harbourview Park.
